Kusama Exhibition
Born in 1929 in Matsumoto, Japan, Kusama came to international attention in 1960s New York for a wide-ranging creative practice that has encompassed installation, painting, sculpture, fashion design and writing. Since the 1970s she has lived in Tokyo, where she continues to work prolifically and to international acclaim.

Tate presents a rare chance to experience two of Yayoi Kusama’s Infinity Mirror Rooms. These immersive installations will transport you into Kusama’s unique vision of endless reflections.

Infinity Mirrored Room – Filled with the Brilliance of Life is one of Kusama’s largest installations to date and was made for her 2012 retrospective at Tate Modern. It is shown alongside Chandelier of Grief, a room which creates the illusion of a boundless universe of rotating crystal chandeliers.

A small presentation of photographs and moving image – some on display for the first time – provides historical context for the global phenomenon that Kusama’s mirrored rooms have become today.

Breaky Bottom is Peter Hall’s passion project – and a real trade favourite. Looking to formalise your wine knowledge? WSET courses are a great place to start. Rebecca Lamont & St Mary's University in Twickenham are offering a place on the Level 1 one-day course on 14th May at the University.

You will learn about and sample the main types and styles of wine and start your journey into wine knowledge!

Chateau Musar has achieved iconic status the world over, making wines throughout the Lebanese Civil War and beyond. The late Serge Hochar first brought his wines to the UK at the Bristol Wine Fair in 1979 where Michael Broadbent picked it out as the discovery of the Fair. Donated by wine lover Mike Clark from his private collection - this 2014 Chateau Musar magnum was bought from VinQuinn and has been cellared by Mikey Clark.

Making fine wines on the Meerlust Estate has been part of the Myburgh family tradition for eight generations, dating back to 1756. Today, the dedication to quality winemaking continues under the guidance of 8th generation, Hannes Myburgh. Cellar Master, Chris Williams has worked on the estate since 1995 and has been in charge of winemaking since 2004. The name Meerlust means “pleasure of the sea”, as the property is situated 5km from False Bay (and 15km south of Stellenbosch), where the cooling influence of the coast allows the grapes ripen slowly. The 2013 Rubicon classic expression of this iconic Cape wine. Very deep, youthful colour, and intense almost purple hue.

This is a REAL collector's item. Château Suduiraut, Premier Cru Classé in 1855, is one of the great historic vineyards of Sauternes. Member of the wine trade Richard Guest has donated bottle of Chateau Suduiraut Sauternes 1945 from his private cellar. Michael Broadbent rated this vintage 5/5: "A small crop produced in difficult post-war conditions but of superb quality. "

When Wine Goes Wrong. Winemaker and lecturer Tony Milanowski leads a dynamic wine lesson with a difference: you’ll learn not what makes wine great, but what happens when it goes wrong. This interactive class dissects common wine faults, including why they occur, what they smell and taste like, and what can be done to avoid them. This is a really excellent addition to the syllabus for WSET students – the interactive class can be joined by up to six households. You’ll be sent samples of selected wine faults for you to add to a wine of your choice. This interactive class is delivered via Microsoft Teams, duration: 60-90 minutes.

Torbreck is one of the great Barossa producers of the last few decades. Founded in 1994, they work with incredibly old, dry grown Shiraz vines focussing on small batch winemaking the finest barriques in the world. The Laird is Torbreck’s icon wine made from 100% Shiraz which comes from a remarkable 5-acre vineyard planted in 1958. This wine is full-bodied, with layers of black fruit, kirsch, spice, tobacco and earth, along with super fine tannins.

Henri Bonneau is one of the true legends of Chateauneuf-du-Pape, making his first vintage in 1956 and working up until he was 78 years old before sadly passing away in 2015. The domain covers just 6 ha of vineyards with 90% devoted to Grenache. His cellars are ancient, dating back to 17th century and you can’t find a barrel in there less than 20 years old. The Marie Beurrier made its debut in 1988 and is devoted to his aunt. It is a blend of 90% Grenache and 10% Mourvedre, with vinification in old concrete and the wine aged in a combination of old foudres and older French burgundy barrels. The wines are increasingly difficult to get hold of - fantastically complex and capable of decades of development.
