Nicholas Allan's books have been published in over 20 countries worldwide and have won multiple awards - The Queen's Knickers won The Sheffield Children’s Book Award and The Coventry Inspirational Book Award. In 2020 Nicholas set up and funded The Queen’s Knickers Award, celebrating outstanding illustrated books for children. Nicholas is the author of Hilltop Hospital, which was adapted into a BAFTA-winning television series for CITV that has been shown in over 40 countries. His books have been adapted into West End musicals, including The Queen's Knickers, The Giant's Loo Roll, and Father Christmas Needs A Wee, the latter touring annually. Nicholas lives and works in London.

Jane Hissey is the author and illustrator of over 20 books, including the classic Old Bear series. Following the success of the books, it wasn’t long before Jane was asked to write a TV series for the toys. Model animation was chosen and sets were built to look just like the drawings in the books. Each ten-minute episode took about five weeks to film and Old Bear Stories won many awards including a BAFTA. Forty episodes were produced and seen in 90 different countries.

The books and TV inspired a huge range of merchandising and soon you could buy Old Bear stationery, mugs, calendars, alarm clocks, bubble bath and baby clothes. You could even have your own Old Bear toy!

Jane has always loved writing and drawing. Throughout much of her childhood she lived in Norfolk and wandered the fields and lanes with pencil and sketchbook.

She studied illustration and design in Brighton, where she met her husband, Ivan, who is also an illustrator. After college, they settled in Sussex and Jane taught art for a few years before leaving to have her first child, Owen. Since then she has had two more children; Alison and Ralph, and has written and illustrated over 20 picture books.

She prepares a dummy book of rough sketches before she begins the finished drawings. For these she draws first in pencil then, using coloured pencils, she builds up layers of colour, adding details towards the end. Each drawing takes many, many hours and a whole book can take a year.

Momoko Abe is a self-taught illustrator based in London. She grew up in Japan, and moved to the UK to study filmmaking. She still works in the TV and film industry, whilst pursuing her passion for children’s books. Momoko was shortlisted for the World Illustration Award in 2019.

Lydia Corry studied painting at the Royal College of Art, and since graduating in 2009 she has devoted herself to illustration, most recently bringing the life of Queen Elizabeth II’s Corgis to life in ‘The Corgi and the Queen’. She lives with her partner and young daughter by the sea in Hastings, and when she's not drawing or painting, you’ll find her building sand castles.

Axel Scheffler is an award-winning, internationally-acclaimed illustrator of some of the most well-loved children’s books, including The Gruffalo. His books have been published in many languages and his work has been exhibited all around the world.

Author-illustrator Alex T. Smith is the award-winning creator of the bestselling Claude series, which is published in 20 languages worldwide, and is now on TV. Alex's newest series is the critically acclaimed and well-loved Mr Penguin. Alex has won the UKLA Picture Book Award, the Children's Book of the World Illustration Award and the Sainsbury's Children's Book Award, and been shortlisted for the Waterstones Children's Book Award. He has also been the official World Book Day illustrator.

Fiona Lumbers has drawn on anything and everything from an early age and always insisted she would be an artist when she grew up. Fiona moved to London in 2000 to study for an MA in Painting at the Royal College of Art. A combination of her obsession with picture books and the arrival of her first son led her down the path of illustration and she hasn't looked back since.

After studying Illustration at the Norwich School of Art, Adam completed a Masters in Narrative Illustration at the University of Brighton and he has been illustrating professionally ever since.

Adam has a rich imagination and loves fantasy and adventure stories. His picture book Silly Doggy! was longlisted for the Kate Greenaway Medal. His picture book SLAM! won the Norfolk Library Silver Award for Children’s Books. His collaboration with Jeanne Willis, Bottoms Up, won the Red House Children’s Book Award 2010 and the sequel, Sing a Song of Bottoms was shortlisted for the Early Years Award 2010.

Posy Simmonds MBE is the author of many books for adults and children, including Gemma Bovery, Lulu and the Flying Babies and Fred, the film of which was nominated for an Oscar. She has won international awards for her work, including the 2009 Grand prix de la critique bande dessinée for Tamara Drewe. Both Gemma Bovery and Tamara Drewe have been made into successful feature films.

Zoom Rockman, his real name, became the youngest-ever contributor to; The Beano Comic (at 12), Private Eye Magazine (at 16) and The Sunday Times (‘Zoom’s Week’ at 21). London Evening Standard named him as one of the Most Influential Londoners under 25.
Still only 22, Zoom has illustrated Iain Dale’s The Prime Ministers (Political Book of the Year 2020) and The Presidents (2021). Zoom’s illustrations appear on the cover of Private Eye’s Dr Hammond’s Covid Casebook (2021), Michael Rosen’s St Pancreas Defendant Me, The Boris Letters (2022) and Ivor Baddiel’s Ben’s Bonkers Barmitzvah (out September 2023).
Zoom graduated with a first class degree in Graphic Design from Central Saint Martins. He attended JCoSS secondary school, Barnet.

Ruchi Mhasane has an MA in Children's Book Illustration from the Cambridge School of Art. Her ambition is to develop the form of the picture book; in India, children's books usually have few pictures, and her aim in joining the MA was to change this. Ruchi especially enjoys drawing people and children, and her work has a dreamy quality to it. She currently lives in India, where she grew up.

Thomas Taylor was born in Norfolk, grew up in Wales, lived in France for many years, and now resides on the south coast of England. His first ever professional commission -- as a newly-graduated art student -- was the cover art for 'Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone' by JK Rowling. After this he illustrated and wrote dozens of picture books, and was artist on the graphic novel 'Scarlett Hart - Monster Hunter', with author Marcus Sedgwick. He is now best known as the author of the 'The Mysteries of Eerie-on-Sea': 'Malamander', and its sequels: 'Gargantis', 'Shadowghast', and 'Festergrimm'. 'Mermedusa', the final book in the series, is due in 2023.

Lydia Monks is a bestselling illustrator and author of children’s books, probably best known for her illustrations of Julia Donaldson's books, which have sold over 4 million copies and been translated into 25 languages worldwide. Lydia’s long list of awards includes the Smarties Award, the Royal Mail Scottish Children’s Book Award, the Stockport Children’s Book Award, the Specsaver, Nielsen Gold Bestseller Award, the Red Big Book Award and the Pan Mac Award. She lives in Sheffield.

Chris Naylor-Ballesteros is an author and illustrator of children's picture books. He has previously worked in music, teaching, illustration and graphic design. He has won the English Association’s Picture Book Award and has been shortlisted for the Kate Greenaway Medal and Oscar’s Book Prize. Hailing from Yorkshire, he lives in France with his wife and two children.

Paddy Donnelly is an Irish illustrator with over 14 years experience and who now gets to make a living drawing dinosaurs - his 5 year old self is very happy about this. Coming from a graphic design background, Paddy works in various illustration styles, and also creates kids apps. Paddy's books have won the Sainsbury's Children's Book Award, the White Ravens Book Award, and have been shortlisted for the KPMG Children's Books Ireland Award, and he was nominated for the World Illustrations Award in 2018. Paddy lives in Belgium with his family.

Meg graduated from the prestigious MA in Children's Book Illustration at the Cambridge School of Art. Printmaker, illustrator and unapologetic Hercule Poirot aficionado, she now lives in Inverness (where she is trying to rebuild her natural Scots' resolve against the cold) with her other half Jon and their impressive Lego collection.

With 14 years of storyboard artistry behind him, Sav has been asked to sketch many things by TV advertising executives. Things that excite (sports, cars, a combination of the two), and those that, perhaps, don’t quite hold such glamorous appeal (roasted vegetables, pints of beer…OK, roasted vegetables). But it hasn’t all been Porsches and potatoes - Sav has also served time as a visual effects artist on numerous feature films; enjoyed an unforgettable term at the legendary ‘Jim Henson’s Creature Shop’; sweated as a cloth layer-upper for famous Brit brands Burberry and Aquascutum; and, perhaps most proudly of all, peddled 99 Flake’s and Funny Feet as a wannabe ‘Mr Whippy’ stationed outside the Tate Britain.

After all the toil, sweat and melted ice-cream, the sketcher of other people’s stories is all set to bring his own tales to life. Charting the adventures of a mischievous, prankster bear, Sav’s debut picture book was published by Walker Books in 2015.

Zehra Hicks is a tutor at Chelsea College of Arts, where she completed a Short Course in Book Illustration in 2009. Since then, she has been highly commended for the Macmillan Prize for Illustration, nominated for the Kate Greenaway Medal, and shortlisted for the Read It Again! Cambridgeshire Children's Picture Book Award. Zehra lives with her family in Epsom, Surrey.

Garry Parsons is an award-winning illustrator of books for children, including the bestselling The Dinosaur That Pooped series. Garry’s illustrations have accompanied the words of many prestigious picture-book authors, including Kes Gray, Ian Whybrow and Peter Bently. He has also illustrated the popular fiction series The Dragonsitter by Josh Lacey and the space adventure series George’s Secret Key to the Universe by Lucy and Stephen Hawking for slightly older readers. Garry lives in London with his young family and old dog.

Joelle Avelino is a Congolese and Angolan illustrator and animator. She graduated from the University Of Hertfordshire in 2012 with a BA (Hons) in Illustration with Marketing. She has worked with many clients including; BBC, Malala Fund, Elle Magazine, The Guardian and Google's Women Tech Makers to name a few. Her animation project with Malala fund was featured on Design Weekly’s favourite International Women's day projects of 2020. She is also a teacher, a personal chef, a cleaner, a nurse and a chauffeur to her five year old daughter.

Margaret Sturton is a Hampshire-based author and illustrator who studied a BA and MA in Fine Art Sculpture, and subsequently gained an MA in Children’s Book Illustration at the Cambridge School of Art. Margaret’s mixed ethnic heritage inspires her exploration of identity and belonging, and the idea for her debut picture book A Fox Called Herbert came to her on a train journey as the words ‘I am a fox’ sprung into her mind.

Nicola Kent graduated from the prestigious Cambridge School of Art MA with a distinction and was Highly Commended in the Macmillan Prize for Illustration in 2016. She worked for ten years as a television producer at the BBC and Channel 4 before following her dream of becoming an author and illustrator of children’s books. Nicola lives in London with her partner and two children.

Susan Varley is an award-winning artist who has illustrated many books for Andersen Press. Her picture book Badger's Parting Gifts that deals with grief, is one of the most enduring of all time, winning many prizes, including the Mother Goose Award in 1985.

Nicola Killen graduated from the MA in Children’s Book Illustration at Cambridge School of Art in 2009, and won the Egmont Best New Talent Award for her final show. She's been working on picture books ever since. She also has a degree in Graphic Design and almost became an accountant! She lives and works in Cambridge.

Sue Cheung was born in the Midlands and spent her early years clowning about and busily scribbling and drawing. At the age of 16 she seized her chance to become an artist by winning a scholarship to the London College of Fashion. Later, Sue went into advertising and worked her way up to Art Director. She now freelances as a designer from her home in Bournemouth, where she writes and illustrates children’s books.
