Broadlands Grayling Gathering 2024

Broadlands on the River Test  is one of the most exclusive venues in fishing.

Following a generous donation by Broadlands Estates, we are delighted to host another of our famous Grayling Gathering events on Tuesday 29th October 2024.

The fishing on this private estate on the River Test is one of the longest continuous stretches of prime chalk stream fishing still in a single ownership.  Taking in the main River Test, the carriers and the River Blackwater, this represents nearly 10 miles of river bank, and is justifiably renowned foe the quality of its fishing.

The Broadlands Coarse Syndicate is a small personal affair with a very limited number of rods available per season.  Visitors to Broadlands can expect Grayling in excess of 3lbs, Roach over the magic 2lbs and Chub in excess of 5lbs throughout the winter season.

The event is open to both game anglers and coarse anglers and it will be up to you whether you fly fish or trot a float or both.  As well as the stunning Grayling there are also some huge roach caught from the stretch each year.

Our 10 winners will be joined on the day by World Fly Casting Champion and Welsh International angler Hywel Morgan.  His expertise and guidance will ensure that each of our winners have a fantastic day.

Martin Salter, our Head of Policy and Graham Mabey, our Regional Angling Development Officer for London and the South West (both of whom know a thing or two about trotting a float!) will also be on hand to assist our winners.

Refreshments will be provided throughout the day with a group barbeque in the afternoon so everyone can meet up and swap their experiences.

There are 10 places available and each lot offers an identical day - simply make sure you are the highest bidder on your lot and you will win the place on offer.

Money raised from this auction, and all of our other fundraising events throughout the year, is ploughed back into the Angling Trust to support our work to Protect, Promote and Develop angling for all.  We truly appreciate every bid placed - good luck if you choose to take part.

Closing date for bids is Sunday 22nd September 2024 at 8pm.

When bidding on an auction item, if you enter more than the minimum increment for an item then your bid will be used for proxy bidding. This is how it works:
1. You enter the absolute maximum that you are willing to bid for an item.
2. jumblebee places a bid on your behalf, using the minimum amount required to make you the highest bidder, i.e. current bid price plus bid increment OR the reserve price, if there is one and it can be covered by your proxy bid.
3. jumblebee continues to bid on your behalf, whenever you are outbid by another member's bid, until your maximum bid is exceeded or the auction is won.
4. jumblebee will notify you by email if your maximum bid is outbid by another member and provided the auction is still running, you will then have a chance to enter a new maximum bid if you wish.
For example:
The current bid on an auction item is £100. The minimum increment is £10. You enter a bid of £150 (your maximum bid).
Using your bid, but increasing only by the minimum increment, jumblebee sets the current bid to £110.
Another person bids £130 but they are immediately outbid by jumblebee bidding on your behalf and the current bid goes up to £140.
The auction finishes and you have won the auction item at a price of £140.
