Countryside Race Day 2024 in aid of Racing Welfare & The Countryside Alliance
Read more ...Each year the The Cheltenham Countryside Race Day supports the work of the Countryside Alliance and a partner Charity. This year Racing Welfare, a registered human welfare charity supporting the workforce of British horseracing, has been chosen as the charity.
Racing Welfare offer professional guidance and practical help to all of racing’s people – including stud, stable, and racecourse staff, alongside those working in associated professions – whose dedication is vital for the wellbeing of racing. Our work aims to help people, from recruitment to retirement, to thrive in day-to-day life and through a range of life’s challenges, providing support with mental and physical health, money matters, bereavement, housing and careers.
The charity has a dedicated 24/7 support line, as well as a network of regional welfare officers located across the country.
"Without the generosity of our supporters, Racing Welfare simply wouldn’t be able to raise the £3m each year needed to provide these crucial, often life-changing services to racing’s people when they need us".
Your support in our auction today will also help to ensure the Countryside Alliance can continue to campaign for all countryside activities and protect the rural way of life. It also enables The Countryside Alliance Foundation to fund educational resources, commission research initiatives and promote projects. Without the dedicated and generous nature of members and supporters the Alliance would not be able to continue the vital political, media and campaigning work that it does so effectively.
Thankyou

Old Brewery House is a terrific Cotswold holiday home retreat with a real difference near Stow-on-the-Wold, sleeping up to 8 guests in four spacious ensuite bedrooms.

Inside the property, much of the original charm and character has been retained and many of the rooms enjoy stunning views across the gardens with roaming peacocks and the beautiful private lake with ducks and swans.
The open-plan kitchen/dining room is well equipped and there are 2 living rooms, so plenty of space! The four bedrooms can be configured into doubles or twins (on request) which makes this property flexible for all parties.

Spring water (or in brewing terms 'liquor') is drawn from the spring beside the mill pond and used as the main ingredient along with barley, malt and hops. The original mill is still used in the brewing process and the mill wheel drives some of the machinery used by the brewery.

As diamond specialists since 1839, Baker Brothers were the first jeweller to cut out the middlemen and go direct to the diamond-buying capital of the world, Antwerp. Every diamond we use is hand selected, loose by our professionally qualified in-house gemmologists. Thus ensuring that every diamond used is of the highest quality at the best possible price.
What is hand selected?
Most modern gemstone and diamond jewellery is bought by retailers ready mounted, i.e. as a finished piece of jewellery. This means that when you inspect the gemstone, the angles you can see are limited so inclusions can be hidden. Where Baker Brothers differ is we hand-select our diamonds and gemstones loose or without a mount so we can see every possible angle, nothing can be hidden from our eagle-eyed specialists. We have our own, strict, in-house guidelines when it comes to quality checking our diamonds which adhere to the highest standards possible set by the GIA International Diamond Grading System, commonly known as the Diamond 4Cs.

This part of Andalucía is simply beautiful with mountainous, pastoral and wooded scenery interspersed with white villages chiselled in to the hillside and exquisite little farmhouses ready made for the artists’ paintbrush.
You stay at Almuña, the home of the Arbuthnotts, on a 500 acre farm with a wondrous vista stretching deep in to North Africa. The Arbuthnott family look after you and, not only like you to eat exceptionally well, but experience food that is home cooked, using fresh and totally organic ingredients from the Almuña kitchen garden together with some delicious Spanish wines. “They have the art of producing delicious food, which leaves you satisfied but not full!”
Almuña sleeps 16 in eight comfortable bedrooms with lovely views and all with en suite bathrooms. The house is surrounded by an acre of garden, with lawns, olive and almond groves where there are quiet places to marvel at the glory of the surrounding country. This is a magical place to learn and improve your art or just to sit in the shade of the giant carob tree by the pool.
The painters are instructed by Eleanor White, founder of Bridge House Art in Ullapool, established in 1995. She began her teaching practice at the Edinburgh Academy and is a visiting tutor at The Leith School of Art. Community Art is important to her and she exhibits in the UK
At the centre of the teaching is a love of art and nature and the dramatic landscape around Almuña will act as an inspiration for the beginner and experienced artist. Each stage of the course is demonstrated step by step covering key topics and techniques essential to creating a successful painting. Students will be encouraged to work at their own pace and to explore and experiment with water colour in a supportive and relaxed atmosphere.
The teaching day is normally from 10.00am - 1.30pm. Afternoons can be used to complete the morning’s work with some time off to relax before an evening talk and critique during drinks before dinner. The painting locations will vary from the area around Almuña and further afield with picnic lunches.
Students are expected to bring their own art materials although some are available at Almuña and are included in a packing list of recommended materials to bring with you.
We would like to make this an equal holiday for non-painters. On the farm there is tennis, riding and some lovely walks. 45 minutes drive from Almuña there are excellent golf courses. In addition to painting there is a programme of activities that are open to all to participate in as they wish.
The prize is the equivalent of €5,240 for two people sharing a room to join a House party and Painting holiday at Almuña. You will join a group of up to 16 people on this holiday.
The prize includes 7 nights full board and lodging at Almuña, all meals, quality wine with lunch and dinner and all pre-lunch and after dinner drinks. Also included are the services of the teacher and all supporting staff as well as transport throughout the week and to and from Malaga airport at the designated times.
The prize does not include airfares, insurance, staff gratuities.
Golf green fees from €60 per round, riding from €40

Chateau Calon Segur 3rd Growth St Estephe, Bordeaux, France, 2005
Grapes: 57% Cabernet Sauvignon, 34% Merlot, 7% Cabernet Franc, 2% Petit Verdot, 55ha vineyard on deep gravel soil over clay sub-soil, 20 year average vine age, hand picked, aged 18-20 months in 100% new French oak.
Critics' Tasting Notes:
"Tasted from an ex-château bottle at BI Wine & Spirits Calon-Segur dinner in London, the 2005 Calon Segur is on par with the wonderful 2000. The only real difference is that this needs more time in bottle. It has a captivating nose: blackberry and boysenberry fruit coming at you at full pelt; dried blood and bacon fat developing as secondary aromas just behind. There is fine delineation here - an underlying mineralité sure to surface with time. The palate is very intense and disarmingly youthful, almost ferrous on the entry with layers of ripe black fruit that segue into an earthy finish (with a curious light tang of Marmite on the aftertaste!). It is a fabulous Calon Ségur, though the millennial wine might ultimately possess greater precision. We will see. Tasted March 2015." Drink 2020-2050

1. You enter the absolute maximum that you are willing to bid for an item.
2. jumblebee places a bid on your behalf, using the minimum amount required to make you the highest bidder, i.e. current bid price plus bid increment OR the reserve price, if there is one and it can be covered by your proxy bid.
3. jumblebee continues to bid on your behalf, whenever you are outbid by another member's bid, until your maximum bid is exceeded or the auction is won.
4. jumblebee will notify you by email if your maximum bid is outbid by another member and provided the auction is still running, you will then have a chance to enter a new maximum bid if you wish.

Using your bid, but increasing only by the minimum increment, jumblebee sets the current bid to £110.
