Buxton Fly Fishing Club controls approximately two and a half miles of the upper River Wye in Derbyshire. It is a very attractive and scenic river divided into two beats which are upstream and downstream of a convenient car park. The lower beat is well maintained and provides very accessible fishing from the bank, or with minimal wading, while the upper beat is a little wilder but just as productive. Although a small river it holds excellent stocks of wild brown and wild rainbow trout providing dry-fly and nymph fishing of the highest quality. The river also enjoys an excellent mayfly hatch. The river is best fished with smaller lighter tackle with rods of 7’ to 8’ rated for #3/4 lines being ideal.The club operates a catch and release policy. The Abbots Worthy beat on the River Itchen is about a third of a mile with single and double bank fishing. It is the most challenging of our pieces of water for casting and stalking, as it is clear all year round with good aquatic fly life providing plenty of hatches, including Iron Blue and Large Dark Olive in good numbers and even the rare Turkey Brown. Most of the River Itchen is a conservation area under SSSI management and the beat is no longer stocked, to help grow the wild fish population. A day's fishing for 3 rods on Monday 3rd November 2025 on the Carham Beat of the River Tweed. Carham offers a mile of double-bank fishing for 3 rods on the lower Tweed, approximately halfway between Kelso and Coldstream, with a five-year average catch of 160 salmon and 25 sea-trout.

The Border runs down the middle of the beat, so fish can be caught in both Scotland and England. Carham lies on an S-bend in the river, providing varied fishing and a high proportion of streamy, attractive fly water. The fishing is readily accessible and much of it is easily waded.

Uddens Pond Wood is surrounded by fifteen acres of private woodland in the heart of the Dorset countryside. The lake is fed by rich, natural springs and is around three and a half acres in size. The depth ranges from two and a half foot in the shallow end, gradually getting deeper as you travel the length of the lake, with the top bay average depth being eleven foot.

The lake is fringed with water lilies and has plenty of margin shelves to fish. There are five attractive islands and the whole lake is lined with trees, bushes and plants. Harrogate Fly Fishers have 4 miles of double bank fishing on the river Nidd centred on the village of Darley in Upper Nidderdale. The Nidd is a freestone river, with a pool-riffle sequence providing runs, glides, point bars and mid-channel islands. This ensures a challenging and varied fishing environment. The banks of the river are, for the most part, heavily wooded (typically with Alder). This provides both cover for the trout, and a ready supply of terrestrials. The best approach is to roam the river, taking full advantage of the variety available in the pools. Fishers can expect to catch wild brown trout in all sizes. There is a substantial head of grayling, providing fishing throughout the autumn and winter. The Nidd runs through Gouthwaite Reservoir and this tends to provide a consistent flow when other rivers may suffer in times of low rainfall. The trout are free rising and respond well to all types of tactics, be that North Country Spiders, modern Euro or upstream nymphing, or classic Dry Fly. We enjoy a Mayfly hatch, usually late May to mid June, and have good early and late season hatches of all the usual upwing, sedge and stonefly.

The successful bidder will receive two tickets to fish our waters and will be guided for the day by a club member who knows the conditions well.
