'Pristine Ice at the Waters Edge, Kleifarvatn Lake' by Jonathan Parnham
Acrylic and ink on watercolour paper
Dimensions: 35 cm x 13.2 cm
Weight: 380 g (including card to protect the artwork)
'Pristine Ice at the Waters Edge, Kleifarvatn Lake' by Jonathan Parnham. Kindly donated by the artist, Jonathan Parnham’s current practice involves painting on location to capture the atmosphere, light, texture, movement and sounds from each environment that he discovers. His recent en plein air works are often created in many capricious weather conditions whilst working along the Cornish coastline or amongst Icelandic waterfalls and glaciers. Some are also translated into larger scale paintings and monotypes when developed further within his studio.
The sea ice and bergs series of monotype prints and paintings represent Jonathan’s current focus on the juxtaposition between observing both the extreme beauty and reality of rapidly retreating Icelandic glaciers he has explored and observed first hand.
Literature provides a key influence within Jonathan’s imagery; the poetry and novels of D.H. Lawrence, George Mackay Brown and Magnús Sigurðsson are often notable references when he works.
Regular visits to Cornwall, Switzerland and three explorations of Iceland are presently offering rich inspiration for a new series of paintings and monotypes. A selection of these works have been exhibited at: New Craftsman Gallery and Penwith Gallery, St Ives, Cornwall; Mount House Gallery, Marlborough, Wiltshire; Chippenham Museum, Wiltshire; Woolwich Contemporary Print Fair, London (2020 & 2021) and online with the Polar Artists Collective. Jonathan Parnham studied at the Royal College of Art and has previously won international film awards for his short, fine art animated films.

Port Lockroy Union Flag
Flown during the 2023/24 season
Dimensions: 106 x 171.5cm
Guide price: £800+
This special Port Lockroy Union Jack flag was flown on site in Antarctica for the 2023-24 season. Due to the Antarctic conditions we sometimes have to replace our flag, so this is your chance to bring a rare piece of Port Lockroy into your home!
Port Lockroy, Base A is situated in a sheltered harbour off the coast of Wiencke Island and at the meeting of three seaways which offer some of the most dramatic mountain and glacier scenery on the Antarctic Peninsula. Opportunity to venture out into Knepp's pioneering 3,500-acre rewilding project in the company of one of their expert ecologists to look for herds of free-roaming longhorn cattle, Exmoor ponies, Tamworth pigs, red and fallow deer – all drivers of nature restoration on the estate.
As you weave through the rewilded scrub, your guide will help you identify the different birds’ songs and share insights into the ecology of your surroundings.
You’ll connect with nature in a way that is scarcely possible in other regions of the UK. Depending on the time of year, you might see the rare purple emperor butterfly, hear the intoxicating song of the nightingale or the cooing of turtle doves. Above you, white storks circle in the skies or swoop onto their nests – the first storks to breed in the UK for 600 years.
In spring, our large herbivores have piglets, fawns, foals and calves at foot. By autumn, when the deer rut begins, the landscape echoes with the bellowing of red stags and fallow bucks as they clash in titanic battles for mating rights.
Mid-way through the safari you’ll break for a refreshing drink and locally made brownies.
This safari runs several times a week from 19 April to 02 October between 9.30am-12.30pm and 2-5pm
The Walk on the Wild Side is a three-hour walk with frequent stops. You’ll need a good level of fitness and be able to cope with walking on uneven ground.
Winning bidder will be provided with voucher to use in 2025 before season ends on 2nd October.
Terms & Conditions can be found here:

As you weave through the rewilded scrub, your guide will help you identify the different birds’ songs and share insights into the ecology of your surroundings.
You’ll connect with nature in a way that is scarcely possible in other regions of the UK. Port Lockroy Penguin Parents, watercolour by Una Hurst
Unframed watercolour painting
Dimensions 37 x 47cm
Guide price: £200
Artist Una feels a deep connection to the Antarctic/South Atlantic. Her parents lived on South Georgia before she was born, so she grew up with stories of the island. The family moved to Fox Bay in the Falkland Islands where her father operated the radio station and postal service. As Una grew up the biggest treat was to visit the nearby gentoo colony to see the penguin chicks. Of all birds they are her favourite. The painting shows a devoted pair with their infant with a nod to Port Lockroy.

Imperial Trans-Antarctic Expedition Prospectus
Dimentions: 24 x 30 cm
32 inner pages
Limited Edition No. 645/1000
This facsimile edition was faithfully reproduced from an original 1914 fundraising prospectus purchased by the polar book collector and donor Ronald Rust. This version is rare as it is an early one in which Davis is named as the captain on “Endurance”. The document shows the planned expedition organisation, personnel and aims of the expedition. The original prospectus was carefully printed using letterpress technology with a hand-sewn binding.
With the assistance of Darrell Hyder of The Sun Hill Press, this beautiful, high-quality facsimile copy has been reproduced exactly as it would have been when it was sent out to potential financial backers of the Trans-Imperial Expedition. It too is printed in letterpress, with hand-tipped illustrations, and a hand-sewn binding and it is hand numbered. Includes:
• Frontispiece map of the Antarctic continent showing the proposed route
• Plate showing a sketch cross-section of “Endurance”
Shackleton had been attempting to convince John King Davis to captain “Endurance”, and in this first version of the prospectus had prematurely included him as the man who would captain the ship, describing him as "the most experienced navigator of the Antarctic seas living". Davis was reportedly “irked to discover he had been announced as captain to the press” and refused the position, so the second and more common version of the prospectus was then printed showing Worsley as captain.
The prospectus comes with a letter explaining more about the edition written by the donor Ronald Rust.

Antarctica, Damoy Point Region
Framed charcoal and ink drawing
Dimensions 20 x 15cm drawing, 32 x 23cm frame
Guide price: £800
Polly Townsend completed an MFA at the Slade School of Fine Art, London, in 2001. She has exhibited widely throughout the UK and USA and her work has won numerous awards and prizes.
Polly has several paintings in the Permanent Collection of the Department of State, USA, currently on display in Beijing, Karachi and Mumbai and has work in the National Parks Collection, USA, The Alpine Club Collection UK, and the Ben Uri Collection.
Polly lives and works in London but travels extensively for her work. In 2023, Polly spent five weeks in Antarctica as Artist in Residence with the Friends of Scott Polar Research Institute and the Royal Navy’s HMS Protector, producing more than 50 paintings/drawings.
A quick charcoal sketch of the region near Damoy Point (64°49’S) inspired this piece with a revised composition and additional depth and details using Indian ink.
The drawing explores the stark contrasts of Antarctica, where light and shadow create a world of extremes. Vast mountains and ice meet the dark sea; the high tonal range amplifying the raw forces. A storm is approaching from the right – this is nature at its most untamed!

Humpback Whale (Small) by Anthony Smith
Dimensions: 20 x 17 x 18 cm (h x w x d), 2.5 kg
Imperial: 8 x 6.7 x 7 inches, 5.5 lbs
Bronze: Edition of 12
Guide price: £2000
PLEASE NOTE: This sculpture is currently displayed in the South Georgia Museum and will be returned to the UK to be prepared for delivery to the lucky bidder in later 2025. The winner will be kept up to date on this time frame.
Kindly donated by the artist, this sculpture is mounted on a black bronze base. This well-travelled sculpture was hand-delivered by Anthony to the South Georgia Museum where it has been enjoyed by countless visitors over the past few years and is now being returned to the UK to be donated for the auction.
Anthony says: “I was inspired to create this bronze sculpture of a Humpback Whale fluke after some wonderful sightings off the shores of South Georgia.
I was particularly struck by the great height that the fluke is sometimes lifted from the sea, when the whale is going for a deep dive, or when preparing to strike the surface. I have sculpted the tail in a simplified form, reducing it to its purest, hydrodynamic shape, as well as emphasising the high, broad fluke spread out like a sail above the waves.”
Anthony Smith is an award-winning British artist who has been creating bronze wildlife and human figure sculptures for more than twenty-three years. His artworks feature in private collections around the world as well as institutions such as the Natural History Museum of London, the British Museum and the Universities of Oxford and Cambridge.
In 2013-14 Anthony was awarded the position of Artist in Residence at the South Georgia Museum. During his two months living at Grytviken, he was enormously inspired by the many hours he spent closely observing the incredible wildlife on the island. Combining these direct observations with his scientific training in Zoology (University of Cambridge) Anthony creates his intricately designed bronze sculptures, aiming to capture the essence of the animal he depicts, as well as the experience of observing these creatures in the wild.
Anthony has returned to South Georgia many times since his Residency.
He continues to draw inspiration from this special place and is delighted to contribute to the island’s conservation through the donation of his artworks.

Protecting the Planet: Emperor of the Ice
Written by Nicola Davies
Illustrated by Catherine Rayner
Children's book, signed
Guide price £30
It’s April in Antarctica and, in places so remote that they can only be seen by satellites, lines of Emperor Penguins appear in search of the perfect ice for raising their chicks. A wise old Empress has returned to the ice at Halley Bay year after year; with the help of her mate, she works to protect her newly-laid egg against the bitter winter. But a changing climate is making the Antarctic Ocean warmer – winds are stronger and storms are fiercer...
With luminous illustrations and an introduction by climate scientist Dr Phil Trathan, this is the true story of how the Emperor penguin colony at Halley Bay was disrupted after the sea ice collapsed, and how it’s necessary to protect the environment so that these extraordinary survivors will continue to be found in the Antarctic for generations to come.
Multi-award-winning author and illustrator Catherine Rayner has written over 20 books for children and illustrated many more for other well-known authors including Julia Donaldson and Michael Morpurgo. Her books have been adapted for musicals, television and theatre. Catherine also exhibits her original artwork worldwide, has her own illustrated card range, and often works on other exciting and unusual collaborations.

A personalised and signed copy of Endurance: The Discovery of Shackleton’s Legendary Ship by John Shears & Nico Vincent
Dimensions: 25.65 x 2.9 x 25.93 cm
256 inner pages
Guide price: £250
Please note that this item will be personalised by John and Nico in late June so there will be a delay in receiving your item.
This is your chance to own a piece of history and receive a personalised message from the authors and leaders of the ground-breaking Endurance22 expedition that found the wreck of Shackleton’s ship.
This is the amazing story in words and images of the historic discovery of the wreck of Ernest Shackleton’s Endurance, deep beneath the ice of Antarctica. In March 2022, an international polar expedition team made an astonishing find: the wreck of Ernest Shackleton’s legendary Endurance, lost in 1915 after being crushed by ice and then swallowed by the Weddell Sea. The harrowing story of Shackleton’s survival and rescue of all 27 men aboard is well known, but the ship has lain unseen for a century, 10,000 feet underwater—until now. The vessel remains incredibly intact, as crystal-clear photography and digital scans from the expedition reveal. A thrilling first-hand account of the expedition co-authored by its leader, Dr. John Shears, and deputy leader and subsea manager, Nico Vincent, this is the first and only book to fully document the discovery, produced in full cooperation with the Falklands Maritime Heritage Trust.

'Sublime Beauty, Gathering Ice and Stillness at Kleifarvatn Lake' by Jonathan Parnham
Acrylic and ink on watercolour paper
Dimensions: 35 cm x 13.2 cm
Weight: 380 g (including card for protecting the artwork)

Her work has been featured on CBS Sunday Morning, CNN and ABC 7 Eyewitness News. She delivered a TED talk in 2016, has spoken at Amazon, Google and NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center, and has exhibited her work as part of Banksy’s temporary art project Dismaland. She has been featured in numerous publications and news sites including the New York Times, BBC News, PBS News Hour, National Geographic, Elle, the Huffington Post, American Art Collector, O Magazine, Colossal, the Wall Street Journal and the Smithsonian Magazine. Diorama – Terra Incognita
Kiln formed glass
Dimensions: 8cm high x 45cm diameter
Guide price: £3,950
Shipping available worldwide
Internationally-renowned glass artist Cathryn Shilling has encapsulated the nature of the last frontier of Antarctica through the use of colour in this modern take on a diorama.
Traditional dioramas were made by the Victorians to offer a glimpse into the vastness and spectacular nature of the world, before the impact of human intervention. The Antarctic Treaty cannot protect against the effects of a warming climate that are now being felt on the continent.
Terra Incognita is painstakingly formed by compiling multiple layers of fine glass cane with dichroic, fused in a kiln then shaped to form a stunning bowl.
After graduating from Central School of Art and Design, Cathryn worked as a designer until a move to the USA in 2001. She studied the art and craft of stained glass in Connecticut and then, on her return to London in 2004, Cathryn began working with kiln formed glass and became a student of blown glass at Peter Layton’s London Glassblowing Studio.
Cathryn’s work has been collected and widely exhibited internationally, and in 2013 Cathryn won the international Warm Glass Artists Prize. In 2015 she was number 4 in the Glassation list of ‘The Most Game Changing Female Glass Artists’ and named on the Graphic Design Hub’s list of ‘The 30 Most Amazing Glass Artists Alive Today’.
Cathryn’s work has been collected and widely exhibited internationally including: V&A Museum of Design, Dundee 2023;
MusVerre, Sars-Poteries, France 2023
International Exhibition of Glass, Kanazawa, Ishikawa Prefecture, Japan 2022
Coburg Glass Prize Exhibition, Coburg, Germany 2022

Mike Seddon creates humorous cartoons for social media, websites and magazines including Private Eye, The Critic and The Phoenix. This cartoon, featured in Private Eye in February 2025, offers a light-hearted take on the penguin research of the British Antarctic Survey.

When bidding on an auction item, if you enter more than the minimum increment for an item then your bid will be used for proxy bidding. This is how it works:
1. You enter the absolute maximum that you are willing to bid for an item.
2. jumblebee places a bid on your behalf, using the minimum amount required to make you the highest bidder, i.e. current bid price plus bid increment OR the reserve price, if there is one and it can be covered by your proxy bid.
3. jumblebee continues to bid on your behalf, whenever you are outbid by another member's bid, until your maximum bid is exceeded or the auction is won.
4. jumblebee will notify you by email if your maximum bid is outbid by another member and provided the auction is still running, you will then have a chance to enter a new maximum bid if you wish.
For example:
The current bid on an auction item is £100. The minimum increment is £10. You enter a bid of £150 (your maximum bid).
Using your bid, but increasing only by the minimum increment, jumblebee sets the current bid to £110.
Another person bids £130 but they are immediately outbid by jumblebee bidding on your behalf and the current bid goes up to £140.
The auction finishes and you have won the auction item at a price of £140.
