In 1949, the 10th Duke of Beaufort started Badminton Horse Trials with the idea of better preparing British riders for the Olympic Games after a disastrous showing on home ground the year before. His legacy is the world’s oldest and most prestigious horse trials, which has captured the imagination of riders worldwide and in 2024 celebrates its seventy-fifth anniversary.

Badminton is still an Olympic proving ground as well as a captivating place where dreams can be made or shattered, and the one all riders want to win. The centrepiece remains the cross-country course, a spectacle that draws thousands of spectators and is an imposing challenge for riders, no matter how experienced they are, in an egalitarian sport in which men and women compete on equal terms and the amateur can take on the Olympic gold medallist.

The Hunter Showjumper offers the same level of protection and air bag coverage as our Pro Air model, but with a zipper instead of buckles for a sleeker silhouette. This design was created based on feedback from riders who desired a more stylish vest for hunting and showjumping while maintaining top-notch safety features.

The Hunter Showjumper comes with a pleated neck allowing for optimal inflation times and protection from neck and collarbone injury and an extended shirt tail to protect lower back, kidneys and coccyx.

When inflated, Point Two Air Vests have been designed to absorb shock, distribute pressure, and support the spinal column in the event of a fall. The air jacket offers further support to the collar of the neck, the ribs, the coccyx, the vital organs and even helps to guard against crushing injuries in the event of a rotational fall.

Our air vests are fitted with one singular air bag which is why our air jackets inflate faster than others on the market. There are no narrow passages to choke the Co2 dispersion, or chambers that can fold over on each other when a bend in the body occurs.

Impact testing conducted by TRL (Transport Research Laboratory) tried to recreate a test where there would be a potentially fatal impact to the chest. The Point Two air jacket reduced levels of chest compression seen in a severe chest impact by more than 55% of those seen in an unprotected fall. In an equivalent impact, a Level 3 body protector shows only a 9% improvement on chest compression measures compared to no protective clothing.

Did you know that after road accidents, paramedics attend more equestrian related accidents than any other type? The most common site of injuries recorded was the chest at 37% and approximately 70% of accidents occur whilst out hacking or schooling rather than in competition.

A bit about Grace
Grace Collett Art came into being at the beginning of 2020, whilst I was on maternity leave and I haven’t looked back since! I started out doing detailed graphite pencil drawings, and then added wonderfully vivid pastel paintings to my arsenal. I've drawn everything from Cheltenham Festival winners and 5* event horses, to cheeky puppies and majestic moggies. I count myself very lucky every time I'm trusted to capture these wonderful animals that mean so much to someone.

I like to know a bit about my subject before I start, because I think it adds to the finished artwork, and I feel I get to know them by the time I’m done! I usually work from a single photograph, carefully capturing the unique expression and character of each animal. I use high quality soft pastel pencils, along with acid- and chemical-free pastel board to guarantee the longevity of the finished piece. Once the portrait is complete, and you are completely happy with it, I try to use recycled packaging where possible, before sending it on its way to be enjoyed in its new home!
