"I completed a full-time degree in Fine Art at Cheltenham Art School (now part of the University of Gloucester). I am fluent in Spanish, French and Italian and travel regularly with a sketchbook, finding inspiration in France, Italy, Spain, Malta and Morocco. In the summer months I tend my small Chiswick garden.
Travel now seems a remote dream, but my sketchbooks are still a reminder of different journeys, and a useful source of inspiration for paintings. In February this year I revisited Marrakech, and have made several paintings with a Moroccan theme.
I was also inspired by the serenity and glowing colours of an exhibition of Indian watercolours at the Wallace Collection in London.
Matisse has always been my great love, but I have always felt a strong connection with the Scottish Colourists: it must be my student days in Edinburgh!"

In addition there is signed copy of 'Evolved', an exquisitely produced book filled with remarkable images of Dame Darcey in various notable locations, such as a pod of the London Eye, on top of the Victoria and Albert memorial, and performing at worldwide events, like the Olympics opening ceremony. The book to be signed by Dame Darcey Bussell DBE for The Victoria Foundation Winter Ball 2024 will be sent directly to the winner.
Dame Darcey Andrea Bussell, DBE is a retired English ballerina and a former judge on the BBC television dance contest Strictly Come Dancing.
Trained at the Arts Educational School and the Royal Ballet School, Bussell began her professional career at Sadlers Wells Royal Ballet. In 1989, at the age of 20, she moved to The Royal Ballet, where she became the youngest-ever principal dancer.[2]
Bussell remained with The Royal Ballet for her entire career, more than two decades. She however performed as a guest artist with many companies including the New York City Ballet, La Scala Theatre Ballet, the Kirov Ballet, Hamburg Ballet and the Australian Ballet. She retired from ballet in 2007.

DONATE £100 to TVF's Appeal for a new Innowalk for the older/taller pupils at Bedelsford School in Kingston.
Bedelsford School is an outstanding special school which aims to provide innovative education and a challenging environment for pupils aged 2 to 19. The school specialises in educating pupils with a wide range of Physical Disabilities including those with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties, Moderate Learning Difficulties and Complex Health needs. Many of the pupils now have CLDD (complex learning difficulties and disabilities).
Please donate now to help TVF raise the final £16,600 that Bedelsford Special School so urgently needs in order to purchase a new Innowalk so that c50 older/taller pupils can get back on an Innowalk which helps them in so many ways.
An Innowalk is designed to enable movement for those with moderate to significant physical disabilities who may suffer from a neurological condition or neuromuscular disease, and have limited ability for independent movement. They spend most of their waking hours being sedentary, and are therefore less physically active compared to those without disabilities. No independent ability to stand or walk is required to use the equipment.
The Innowalk has thick padding on the leg supports and seat to provide increased comfort and support for the user.
A large, stable tray supports arms when standing and provides a good balance between support and opportunity for activity.
Tilt in space angle provides stabiliy and comfort for those with poor trunk and head control.

A donation of £50 can provide 1 hour of therapy for a carer or the people they care for.
The Victoria Foundation has pledged to continue to fund over 200 hours of therapy to over 50 carers and the people they care for in our local community through the work of Crossroads Care Richmond and Kingston (CCR&K)
The therapy will take place be in the Therapy Rooms at CCR&K, which The Victoria Foundation funded from the proceeds of its fundraising ball in 2019, and will provide a ‘Caring’ experience to help prevent family breakdown and crisis for Parent Carers and Children and Young People with physical, emotional and medical disabilities.
This will also help to reduce exhaustion and frustration, together with feelings of depression and isolation, all of which are contributing to factors leading to family breakdown.
Your support is so appreciated and will help to support the care needs of this vulnerable and particularly socially isolated group in our local community.

Biography
My name is Salome Gallan, and I am an abstract artist who creates art using acrylic paint, ink, and mixed media. I am Originally from Cape Town, South Africa, and I've lived in London for almost 20 years. From a young age, I've always had a passion for painting, drawing, and crafting with anything I could find. I attended an art college until I was 18 and enjoyed mainly painting and drawing. Abstract painting is an excellent way to express what's happening in my mind and serves as a release.
Nature, music, meditation, and listening to people inspire me to create art. I can even paint someone's feelings by carefully listening to them, and it's heartwarming when a person connects with a piece. I love using bold and expressive colours with many layers and textures.
Art is all around us and plays a crucial role in our lives. It brings people together, creates memories, and speaks a thousand languages. Art creates energy and feeling and helps people communicate. About Salome Gallan
Biography
